ITEM 1 – Dancing Tutu Bronze Maquette (Price Guide: R40,000-R45,000
Archbishop Desmond Tutu was known for his work as an anti-apartheid and human rights activist. In this sculpture the artist portrays his lighter side. During happier times he was quick to raise his arms in delight or laughter or to jog up and down expressing a happy moment.
ITEM 2 – Madiba Shuffle Bronze Maquette (Price Guide: R40,000-R45,000)
Nelson Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid activist and politician who served as the country’s first black President from 1994 to 1999. In this sculpture the artist portrays Mandela in one of his more playful moods. In happy moments he would often perform a little dance move that delighted the public and was to become known as the Mandela shuffle.
ITEM 3 – Mahatma Gandhi Bronze Maquette (Price Guide: R40,000-R45,000)
Mahatma Gandhi was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India’s independence from British rule, and the protection of the rights of Indians in South Africa. In this bronze sculpture the artist has portrayed Gandhi as he dressed in India as a devout Hindu.
